THE HAND OF 'A' (ANTWERP)

The design process of my visual identity was centered around one main concept: Origin

This concept had a double meaning for meaning for me:

* The city I was born and raised in (Antwerp, located in Belgium).

* The heritage of my cultural ancestry (Middle Eastern/Muslim).

For the design I decided to use an element that has a symbolic meaning to both worlds, the hand of:

* Druon Antigoon (Flemish folkloric character), a mythical giant who used to live in the city of Antwerp.

* Fatima, also more commonly referred to as Hamsa, a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East & the Maghreb region.

I decided to use the Hamsa as a base to which I then added several design elements relating to the city of Antwerp (A sign, Hand logo, city skyline, ...).

I wanted to create a design that carried a bizarre effect strong enough to capture the viewer's attention.

If you like the design of this hand you can order a canvas printed version through this link!
